In the historic library of Crestwood High, the silence was shattered by a coarse, mocking laugh. Three seniors—Ryan, Cole, and Mason—sons of powerful parents, cornered the new English teacher, Ms. Hannah Bennett, against the dusty bookshelves. Cole grabbed her wrist while Ryan, the basketball captain, leaned in with a smug grin.
“You’re new here,” Ryan whispered, his breath smelling of arrogance. “Let’s see how long you last; the last one didn’t even make it a month”. Books tumbled from Hannah’s hands, scattering across the floor as her fingers trembled.
Hannah’s fingers shook, but as she looked up, the fear in her eyes vanished, replaced by a hard, searing cold. She didn’t scream for help; instead, she straightened her posture, suddenly appearing much taller.
“Boys,” she said quietly, her voice sounding like the click of a lock. “You just made a very big mistake”. The teenagers froze for a second, caught off guard by her sudden, eerie composure.
